In a landmark move, the Air France-KLM Group and Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaborative agreement aims to elevate their partnership across various domains. It mainly encompasses loyalty programs. The overarching goal is to not only enhance the benefits and rewards for their customers but also to fortify their competitive position in the dynamic global aviation market.

Unified Loyalty Programs For Air France, KLM & Etihad Flight

Etihad Guest and Flying Blue members can now earn and redeem Miles in either loyalty programme when flying with Air France, KLM, or Etihad as part of their new partnership. Elite members will also receive reciprocal benefits. This partnership officially launched today after Air France started flying from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Abu Dhabi International Airport in October of last year.

Flying Blue Miles can be utilized to book flights, accommodations, car rentals, and a wide range of experiences worldwide. Similarly, Etihad Guest Miles can be exchanged for a variety of rewards such as merchandise from the Etihad Guest Reward Shop, international hotel stays, and travel experiences. Presently, both Etihad and Air France operate daily flights connecting Abu Dhabi International Airport to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol. Additionally, Air France conducts daily flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Commitment Amidst Challenges

The MoU stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment and vision of both Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways. Stringent health and safety measures, coupled with flexible booking policies, underscore their dedication to ensuring the well-being and confidence of their passengers.

The MoU is anticipated to be finalized and implemented in the forthcoming months, contingent upon the requisite approvals from relevant authorities and stakeholders. This collaboration is set to complement the existing partnerships and alliances of both airlines, with Air France-KLM aligned and Etihad Airways. Central to the MoU is the significant expansion of the codeshare agreement between Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways. This expansion is poised to unlock a multitude of destinations and services for passengers of both airlines worldwide.  The codeshare agreement was first established in 2012. It currently covers 44 routes operated by Air France, KLM, and Etihad Airways. Additionally, there are 20 more routes operated by partner airlines. These partner airlines include Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, and Virgin Australia.
