On December 9, the airline confirmed placing an order for 100 more Airbus aircraft. This large order includes 90 narrowbody A320 Family aircraft and 10 widebody A350. Air India’s upcoming fleet of 100 Airbus aircraft also consists of A321neo. In 2023, the airline also ordered  470 aircraft with Airbus and Boeing. This recent order confirmation jumped to 350 Airbus aircraft from 250 in 2023, including 40 A350 and 210 A320 Family aircraft.

In addition to announcing the new swanky fleet, the airline mentioned going forward with Airbus’ Flight Hour Services-Component (FHS-C) to support the maintenance requirements of its A350 fleet. According to a press release, new maintenance contracts and materials will impact “Air India to optimise A350 fleet’s reliability and performance with comprehensive engineering services and integrated component services plus the on-site stock at Delhi provided by Airbus.”

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, revealed how the company aims to expand its future fleet by exceeding the firm orders of the 470 aircraft placed in 2023. The latest orders of 100 aircraft will contribute to establishing Air India on the path to greater growth.
