Air India and Lufthansa Group have announced an important expansion of their codeshare agreement, which introduces almost 60 new routes connecting 12 Indian and 26 European cities. This will enhance connectivity between India and Europe with more choices and hassle-free travel for customers.
Air India And Lufthansa Group Extend Codeshare Deal
The increased codeshare agreement comprises a new association of Air India with Austrian Airlines. More routes under current agreements with Lufthansa and SWISS. Close to 100 codeshare routes between Europe, India, Australia, and the Americas. With this, Air India customers can now travel to 26 European cities and three cities in the Americas via Lufthansa Group airlines. Lufthansa Group customers also have improved connectivity to 15 domestic cities in India.
More Travel Destinations For The Passengers
The following are the routes provided under the new deal:
- Lufthansa: Frankfurt to major European city destinations such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, and Geneva.
- SWISS: Zurich to city destinations such as Brussels, Copenhagen, and Manchester.
- Austrian Airlines: Vienna to such destinations as Hamburg, Nice, and Stockholm.
Further, Lufthansa Group airlines will append their flight codes to Air India’s international flights to Kathmandu, Melbourne, and Sydney from Delhi and Mumbai. These changes offer passengers increased flexibility and connectivity.
