Air India Paints Ik Onkar On Amritsar-London Plane Tail To Celebrate Guru Nanak’s 550th Birthday

To celebrate Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday, National carrier Air India painted ‘Ik Onkar’ on the tail of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh appreciated the move by Air India on social media. He even tweeted ‘Heartwarming to see ‘Ik Onkar’ painted on the tail of Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner as part of the historic celebrations on the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’.

‘Ik Onkar’ is a significant emblem of the Sikh religion and its found on Gurudwaras around the world. So it’s a remarkable move by Air India to celebrate Guru Nanak’s 55oth birthday in a unique and inclusive manner. Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes, flown by Air India are among the top-end models and are often used on long haul routes.

Moreover, Ashwani Lohani, Air India CMD stated that there was a demand to launch a direct flight from Amritsar to London. Air India found it to be a great opportunity and auspicious moment to launch it on the 55oth Guru Purab. He further stated to a news agency that Air India understands that the exterior of a flight is unique. It can be used to promote tourism. So they are celebrating Guru Purab by painting ‘Ek Onkar’ which means ‘God Is One’ on the aircraft’s tail. Their flights will be flying around the world and they hope that India’s message would reach maximum places. So this is the very reason behind this move. Air India has also launched a flight directly from Amritsar to the UK On October 31st. And they are getting a great response from passengers adding to this, the load factor and the route are good too.
