Airline Industry Slowly Revives During Long Holi Weekend
According to The Week, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on March 23 that the aviation sector is in a revival stage post the Covid-19 second wave, The number of passengers flying in India have also increased to 3.9 lakhs per day in November 2021, as compared to 4.15 lakhs in the pre-pandemic time. The last seven days have once again witnessed a rise in passengers flying on domestic airlines, possibly due to the long Holi weekend. The aviation sector is back to welcoming 3.82 lakh passengers flying every day. This number is expected to increase to 40 crore passengers in 2023-24.

Indian Airline Sector Has 15 Percent Women Pilots; More Than Global Average
The minister also stated that at a time when the airline industry in the country faced turbulence, two new airlines- Akasa and Jet launched their services. Moreover, currently, 15 per cent of pilots in India are women, as compared to the global average of 5 per cent. Scindia believes that this is a wonderful example of women’s empowerment. Also, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the private sector will make ₹1 lakh crore investments in green and brownfield airports across the country.
