It is not a secret that food at the airport is extremely expensive. However, a post recently shared by the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics puts into perspective how high the charges for food items really are. He shared a picture which showed that street food items were being sold for as high as ₹333 per plate at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA, which is also known as Mumbai Airport. Here is how the Internet reacted to the post.

Kaushik Mukherjee, who is the CEO of Sugar Cosmetics, recently took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared a picture. The picture showed three of the most iconic street foods of Mumbai – Pani Puri, Dahi Puri and Sev Puri – being sold at the Mumbai Airport.
If you don’t live in Mumbai, it may be fruitful to know that these street food items generally cost around ₹10 – ₹150. The latter is still quite expensive for commoners. However, the picture that Mukherjee shared, priced them at a whopping ₹333!
Each plate had eight pieces and was prefixed with the name “Elco.” For those not in the know, Pani Puri from Elco Market in Bandra is known to be quite pricey. Furthermore, renting a shop at an airport is not cheap either. Many Netizens pointed this out.

Many people were quick to point out that the high price might be owing to the high rent that shopkeepers have to pay at the airport. Yet others proceeded to ridicule the high price. Many people said that if money is a concern, then it is always better to pack food from home.
Elco likha h so nothing surprising here 🤷🏽

Some people also said that given how pricey the street food at Elco market is, the price tag is not all that high. What do you think?
