These Runways Of Mumbai International Airport Will Not Operate On May 9
The pre-monsoon runway maintenance and process of repairs are a part of the airport’s monsoon contingency plan. Due to the upcoming maintenance procedures, the primary runway 09/27 and the secondary runway 14/32 will remain non-operational on May 9 temporarily. Runway 09/27 is 3448 metre x 60 metre. The second runway 14/32 spans 2871 metre x 45 metre. These above-mentioned runways will stop providing services at 11 AM and will continue till 5 PM on May 9, according to the recently released press note. Operations will start as usual after 5 PM.
Plans like this are conducted annually to ensure better operations and provide enhanced passenger experiences. Proper arrangements have been made so that the scheduled pause in operations in these runways does not affect scheduled flights and does not cause inconveniences to passengers. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued already as well. It is to focus on runway resilience and continue flight operations properly, especially during the upcoming monsoon season.
