Contract Awarded For Al Khail Road Improvement Project

Under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the Chairman of the Executive Council, a contract has now been awarded for the Al Khail Road Improvement Project. In case you’re wondering, this project features the construction of bridges that will be spread across 3300 m.

In fact, it also includes road improvement works, which cover 6,820 m across seven locations on the Al Khail Road. Yes, these include Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle. In fact, the project contributes towards expanding the capacity of the current intersections and bridges by about 19,600 vehicles per hour. Not to mention, it will also eliminate traffic overlapping at the flyover crossing Al Khail Road, which will reduce the travel time by 30%.

What Does The Project Entail?

In case you’re wondering, the improvement project is going to enhance traffic in several locations. Yes, on Zabeel, which falls particularly between all the Oud Metha Street and Financial Centre sections, a three-lane bridge spanning 700 m will be constructed. These will be able to accommodate 4,800 vehicles per hour, which would link traffic between Zabeel Palace Street and Oud Metha Road directly onto Al Khail Road in the direction of Abu Dhabi. Not to mention, the project also involves improvements to surface roads. This is going to be spread across 850 m to length the traffic inbound from Al Khail Road towards the Financial Centre Street in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road.

Linking the traffic between Al Meydan Road onto Al Khail Road, in the direction of Deira, the work also includes the improvement of the surface road that would be extended by 1550 m. As a result, this improvement work will connect traffic from Al Khail Road to Ras Al Khor Road.

A two-lane bridge will be constructed on Al Quoz 1, between the intersection of Al Meydan Road and Al Waha Street. It will stretch 650 m accommodating 3,200 vehicles per hour.
