How many times have you tried hiring a taxi and got refused for no reason on earth? Countless times, isn’t it? Well, The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) has probably looked into the matter and has come up with a compulsion for all the Kaali Peelis in Mumbai to have indicators that show  ‘For Hire’, ‘Hired’ And ‘Off Duty’. Rooftop LED Indicators by June 30, 2022

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) has made it compulsory for all the Kaali Peelis in Mumbai to have rooftop LED indicators by June 30, 2022. The indicators will have colour codes red, green and white. The red light will indicate that the taxi is occupied, the green will state that it is for hire and the white one will indicate it is off duty. The indicators will also read  ‘For Hire’, ‘Hired’ And ‘Off Duty’ in English and Marathi. 

Recalibration Of Meters

The MMRTA has also asked the cabbies to recalibrate meters till January 2022 to new fares as some of the cabs still show the old rates. They have been levying a heavy fine on the drivers who haven’t yet done so.
