The Tokyo Spirits Competition, led by Mr Mamoru Tsuchiya, is renowned for its rigorous judging process. The panel consists of more than 200 experts who assess each entry with precision. This year’s competition saw entries from prominent distilleries across Taiwan, Japan, and India. Amrut Fusion’s triumph over other distinguished single malts highlights Amrut’s exceptional quality. The win underscores the distillery’s ability to produce award-winning whiskies beloved by enthusiasts worldwide.

According to the press release, Mr ThriVikram G Nikam, Joint Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries, expressed his pride upon receiving the award. It was founded in 1948 by the late Mr Radhakrishna Jagdale. Situated in Bangalore, India, Amrut Distilleries is part of the NR Jagdale group. The international breakthrough came in 2009 with Amrut Fusion, which brought Indian whisky to the global spotlight. The journey of premiumisation began under the visionary leadership of Chairman Mr Neelkanth Rao Jagdale. Currently, Mr Rakshit N Jagdale leads the family-owned enterprise as Managing Director.
Amrut’s innovative approach involves using Indian barley and leveraging the country’s unique climate to speed up whisky maturation in oak barrels. This process creates a distinctive flavour profile that sets Amrut apart. The distillery’s commitment to excellence has established it as a key player in the global whisky industry, with its products highly regarded by connoisseurs worldwide.
