Viral Post Shows Shocking Garbage Piles In The Andaman Islands
Devastating state of Andaman.
It’s truly heartbreaking to witness this.Almost every roadside is piled with garbage.
I’m visiting after four years, and the condition of the islands this time is deeply disheartening. A place known for its pristine beauty deserves so much better. pic.twitter.com/XqB9olYvWn

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands draw thousands of tourists every year. Visitors are drawn to its pristine white sand beaches and water sports. Not just that, many people also visit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to take a break from the daily hustle and bustle. But don’t you think it is a tourist’s responsibility to respect the place they are visiting and keep it clean?
An X user, Mohit Mehta, recently posted images and videos showing heaps of garbage piled up on the roadside in the Andaman Islands. Mohit wrote, “Devastating state of Andaman. It’s truly heartbreaking to witness this. Almost every roadside is piled with garbage.” From the post, plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, plastic bags, food wrappers, and more can be seen piled up at the side of the roads. And yes, we agree with Mohit that it does look devastating.

Netizens Demand Strict Action
Mohit, in his post, also mentioned that he visited the Andaman after four years. Seeing the condition of the islands in this state was ‘deeply disheartening’. Under the post, he also shared another video showing trash in empty plot spaces and in the middle of a housing society as well.
And just like us, netizens also agreed with him. One user wrote, “Need of the hour Manufacturing of single-use carry bags and other package material should be stopped,” while another commented, “We humans are garbage dumps. Where we go, we trash the place. Pathetic condition. No blooming civic sense.” A third X user tagged Andaman Police and suggested that there should be strict rules for visitors as well as residents and shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness.
And honestly, we agree with this suggestion. One should be fined for disposing of garbage carelessly on the side of the roads. Only then will people realise how important it is to keep the surroundings clean.
