Recently, there has been an uptick in the number of incidents where passengers misbehave with other co-passengers and even flight attendants. Many of these incidents are because the passengers are drunk. This latest incident is dissimilar in that there were no reports of the passenger being drunk, however, he did cause a ruckus. A video showing an angry passenger throwing punches at a flight attendant has gone viral on the Internet.
Angry Passenger Punches Flight Attendant
This particular person was identified as Cody Benjamin Lovins. According to Naya Jimenez, the person who recorded the video, Lovins got violent with the flight attendant after he and his wife were asked to move from the seat that was officially assigned to Jimenez.
The incident took place in a United Airlines plane which was headed from San Francisco to Houston in Texas. According to what Jimenez said to a news portal, the airline personnel were forced to bring a gate attendant from the outside in order to defuse the situation.
However, angered by being asked to move, Lovins punched the flight attendant repeatedly. He then backed away and approached the emergency exit and opened the door successfully. He was about to jump off from the approximately two-storeyed height when the flight attendant and some other passengers intervened and pulled him to safety.

United Bans Lovins From Future Flights
Lovins’s actions were widely criticised by people on the Internet after the video went viral. Even the airline criticised his behaviour and banned him from travelling via United Airlines in future after calling his behaviour “unacceptable”.
Jimenez also stated that Lovins was slurring his speech for a bit. Apart from this one statement, nothing in the incident suggests that the passenger was in any way inebriated. United Airlines has also lauded its personnel for acting professionally and handling the situation in the best way possible.
This is not the first time that passengers have exhibited questionable behaviour while travelling in planes. Such cases, especially where passengers are drunk, have been on the rise. This has prompted a debate about whether serving alcohol on planes is necessary.
