Anshula Kapoor-Rohan Thakkar’s Wedding Festivities Begin With Mata Ki Chowki; Watch Video

Anshula Kapoor, daughter of Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie Kapoor, is all set to tie the knot with her longtime boyfriend Rohan Thakkar on July 6 in Mumbai. The wedding preparations have begun with a special Mata Ki Chowki, which was hosted by Rohan’s family. From aarti to celebratory dances, here’s how the celebrations kicked off.

In traditional Hindu weddings, a Mata Ki Chowki is often hosted first to seek the divine blessings of Maa Durga. The ceremony is believed to ensure a happy married life and bless the couple with prosperity. Anshula Kapoor, who is all set to tie the knot with Rohan Thakkar, wore a champagne-coloured ensemble with a Phulkari dupatta, rooted in Punjabi tradition that celebrates heritage and blessings. Meanwhile, Rohan shone in a bright red-coloured sherwani. The Mata Ki Chowki was hosted by Rohan’s family and was an evening filled with Maa Durga’s blessings, love and a lot of dancing.

 In a video shared by Anshula, the gathering blended spiritual customs with lively family celebrations. The couple kicked off the ceremony by lighting diyas and performing the holy aarti together in front of Maa Durga’s beautiful idol before taking her blessings. Anshula’s brother, Arjun Kapoor, and other family members like, Janhvi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, were also seen performing the aarti and taking part in the celebrations.

Prayers, Songs & Celebratory Dances

The Mata Ki Chowki was also filled with traditional songs, prayers and dancing by the extended family, including Maheep Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor. Moreover, all of them were dressed in colourful outfits in shades of red, pink, yellow, green and more. Honestly, the celebration looked just like how Indian weddings should look. 

Glimpses of the Mata Ki Chowki ceremony are going viral online. Many people commented on how colourful and divine the entire celebration looked.  The couple had earlier got engaged in October 2025 at a traditional Gor Dhana ceremony. Now, we are all excited for more functions from this much-anticipated wedding of Anshula and Rohan.
