If you’re an NRI in the UAE and planning to apply for a PAN card, the easy route is closing soon. Starting April 1, 2026, the Income Tax Department will not accept Aadhaar as the sole document to apply for or update PAN. That shortcut is available to you just yet, but not after March 31.

New Forms And Increased Checks
The existing forms of PAN applications will be substituted with new ones. The old forms? They will not be received after the deadline.
Tighter verification should be expected. All the information, including name, date of birth, and other personal details, should be identical in all the documents. Even minor discrepancies would have slowed everything down.

You must submit your application using only Aadhaar before March 31. Your final opportunity for a faster process is in that window.
According to the report by The Gulf News, the applications will also take more time to be processed after the rule is enforced since new layers of verification will be included.
