Get ready for a truly unique cultural experience in Shillong as the ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp (AIAC) 2025 returns from March 29 to April 7! This year, it marks 10 years of India’s Act East Policy, and it’s all about bringing together 21 artists from ASEAN member states, Timor Leste, and India for an unforgettable ten-day journey into the world of art, culture, and creative exchange.
ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp Returns To Shillong

Imagine an inspiring place where artists from various backgrounds and cultures come together to produce beautiful works of art and indulge in intercultural discussions. The camp provides an immersive experience unlike any other, with interactive sessions with Shillong’s art students and workshops on traditional dance and handicrafts.
The AIAC 2025 features a diverse range of artists, including multidisciplinary artist Mrudula Kunatharaju from India, Singapore’s Ms. Chong Ai Chezer, and Mr. Abilio da Conceição Silva from Timor Leste. These innovative minds will share methods and their experiences over 10 days. They will also create artwork that reflects their individual artistic practices and the common cultural histories of their respective locales.
Under the guidance of well-known mentors Samindranath Majumdar, Tanmoy Samanta, and Yogendra Tripathi, the camp will encourage collaboration between various artistic genres like modern, contemporary, traditional, etc. Artists will immerse themselves in India’s rich artistic traditions while combining aspects of their own culture to create art that symbolises unity in diversity.
A Celebration Of Art Without Borders
What makes the ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp truly special is the exchange of ideas. Artists will connect, learn, and share their personal stories and create lasting relationships. From creative collaboration to late-night storytelling sessions, the camp is a place where relationships and art can thrive.
After cultural performances and a large-scale exhibition in Shillong, the event will move to New Delhi and Malaysia, the 2025 ASEAN Chair. Before the residency, artists will gather for a virtual introductory session on March 25 to kick off the journey. The official launch press conference will be held on March 29 in New Delhi before the camp takes off for Shillong.
In 2025, the ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp is the place to be if you are interested in art, exploring new places, or wanting to experience the rich cultural exchanges between India and Southeast Asia.
Don’t miss out on the chance to be a part of something truly special.
