Ashish Vidyarthi

Actor Ashish Vidyarthi is a major foodie, who we admit even gives us tough competition with his tantalising food exploration videos. This time, the actor visited Pune’s iconic Irani Cafe where he relished bheja fry, kheema and many more authentic Irani delicacies. Read on to learn more about his food escapade.

Ashish Vidyarthi Dined At Pune’s Irani Cafe & Here’s What He Relished

A popular haunt for Punekars, Irani Cafe in Kalyani Nagar is one of the city’s most iconic places for Irani breakfasts. Ashish Vidyarthi is no stranger to Irani brekkies. So, the veteran actor made a pit-stop at Irani Cafe with his wife, Rupali Barua. He posted a reel on Instagram documenting his food adventures. “Yeh kheema hai, yeh bheja hai, aur yeh akuri hai. Aur in teeno cheezo ko yaha bhejna hai”, he says pointing at the lavish Irani spread in front of him.

He starts his meals by first squeezing lemon in his kheema. Next, the actor dunks his buttery pav in the plate of kheema and relishes it. Ashish Vidyarthi describes the mutton kheema as ” grated but not too fine”. There’s masala, there’s spice but it’s not overpowering, says the actor. His wife, Rupali Barua is seen digging into a delicious-looking masala omlette. When he asks her about it, she smilingly tells him “bahut tasty hai”.

He Highly Recommends Akuri, An Iranian Scrambled Egg Dish At The Cafe

Next, he digs into akuri. This is a spicy scrambled egg dish from Parsi cuisine in India. Here, eggs are perfectly cooked until they are almost runny. Then, a punchy flavouring of fried onions, chopped chillies, black pepper, ginger and coriander are added. It’s commonly eaten with pav or double roti. Ashish Vidyarthi couldn’t stop raving about the akuri at Pune’s Irani Cafe. As he licked his fingers and smacked his lips, relishing the lingering flavours of the spiced scrambled eggs, the actor called it “the finest akuri” he has ever eaten.

The Actor Also Tried Bheja Fry

The actor goes on to say the akuri is garnished with fresh coriander and has a subtle sweet taste. Calling it “amazing” and “perfectly made” looks like Ashish Vidyarthi found a winner at Irani Cafe. Last but not the least, he digs into a hearty plate of mutton kheema, the real deal! “Nothing overpowers the softness of the bheja”, he says as he scoops generous helping of flavoursome kheema with pieces of pav. “Bahut hi bhadiya”, he exclaims!
