Bibi Ka Maqbara is a historical monument nestled in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in the 17th century, this monument is dedicated to his first wife Rabia-Ul-Daurani aka Dilras Banu Begum. This is a famous tourist attraction in Maharashtra and attracts massive footfall throughout the year. An official of the Archaeological Survey of India recently shared that they are revamping the monument and giving it a new look very soon.

This 17th-century monument interestingly resembles the iconic Taj Mahal of Agra. Its striking resemblance to the Taj is one of the many reasons that draw visitors here. The revamp project by the Archeological Survey of India will add more grandeur to Bibi Ka Maqbara. As shared by a senior official of the Archaeological Survey of India, the main mausoleum of Rabia-ud-Durrani will be reconstructed. It is expected that the project redevelopment will be completed by the end of this year.

Why Is The Archaeological Survey Of India Revamping The Monument?

Bibi Ka Maqbara is one of the few monuments in India welcoming visitors till 10 pm. One of the reasons behind the Archaeological Survey of India deciding to revamp and illuminate the 17th-century monument is to give it a brand new stunning look. And make it look more radiant and glorious even at night.

The reconstruction process adds light and more intricacies to amp up the monument even at night. Many lights will be added and those will be taken care of using nets of stainless steel. Not only the monument, but even the surrounding areas will also get a new look with this project. The water fountains will start operating very soon too.

Bibi Ka Maqbara is an iconic establishment of Aurangabad and it was built as a memorial for Aurangzeb’s first wife Dilras Banu Begum in the 17th century. It is a prominent monument in Maharashtra attracting so many visitors and history enthusiasts all the time.
