The Australian government has finally ended the requirement for travellers to show their Covid-19 vaccination status before entering the country. On Sunday, the Home Affairs ministry & Health ministry announced that travellers arriving in Australia from Aug 6 do not have to complete the Digital Passenger Declaration. The travellers showed their vaccination status in the Digital Passenger Declaration. This will end all the Covid-19 restrictions that Australia had introduced in the country at the beginning of the pandemic two years ago.
Reduced Delays At Australia Airports
The government said that removing the Digital Passenger Declaration would reduce the delays, as airports are getting busier with people travelling more. The scrapping of the Covid-19 vaccination status will also encourage more travellers to visit Australia and enable skilled workers to choose Australia as a destination. However, travellers will still have to wear masks on the flights.
People who arrive in Australia on a cruise will no longer need to adhere to the vaccination rules and regulations.

Current Covid-19 Situation In The Country
Australia has had a rise in cases, with over 25,000 new cases and overall 25 deaths. The government also said that the number of patients might further rise in the next couple of months. There is also undue pressure on the hospitals and health care facilities, with over 300 death cases being reported. The government has even asked the people to go ahead and get their booster shot or the third vaccination shot as this virus’s dangers aren’t over yet.
Despite the government’s ruling, one of the Australian airlines, Qantas will keep the vaccination status mandatory to travel on their flights. The wearing of masks is also a mandate that has to be followed in both domestic and international flights.
