Uttar Pradesh’s southern region contains the town of Ayodhya, commonly referred to as Oudh or Awadh. Ayodhya, an old town, is revered among Hindus as one of the seven sacred towns and is known for its inclusion in the renowned Indian epic poem Ramayana. The Ayodhya Airport is going to be completed and domestic flights will start from November, this year.
Ayodhya Airport: Construction Phase 1 To Be Completed By October
In November, domestic flights are anticipated to begin at the Ayodhya International Airport. Director of Ayodhya Airport Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, Vinod Kumar, stated that the airport’s first phase of construction is anticipated to be finished by October. The airport administration is aiming to complete the terminal building as fast as possible, and it is now 25 per cent complete.
The runway, which is 2,200 metres long, has already been built. The runway will be expanded to 3,125 metres during the second phase of construction and to 3,750 metres during the third phase. After the third phase is finished, it is anticipated that international flights will begin.

As soon as the terminal building is finished in October, according to Kumar, the airport authority will submit an application to the DGCA seeking authorization to begin flights. The airport will be examined by the DGCA before authorization to begin flights is given.
Domestic Flights To Start From November
The budget for the airport’s first phase of construction is ₹321 crore. Funding for the second and third phases will be needed in addition. The airport will be constructed on 821 acres of land, 799 of which have already been purchased. The government is making efforts to purchase the remaining land. According to Kumar, the airport has enough land and finance.
In November 2023, domestic flights are anticipated to begin from the Ayodhya International Airport. By October, the airport’s initial phase of development should be finished. Initially, flights from the airport will go to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. In the third phase, the runway will be expanded to 3,750 metres, enabling the launch of international flights.

The project’s remaining acreage is currently being sought after by the airport authority.
