E-boarding gates equipped with boarding pass scanners have come in in Terminal 2 and 3 of Delhi airport to allow passengers scan their flight details and proceed directly for security checkup. This will shorten queues, quicken the document verification process for passengers and also help in limiting contact. Similar gates are at a deployment stage in Terminal 1. Different sizes of gates have been set up to cater to passengers with various requirements like large bag, wheelchair, etc.
Arriving International Travellers Need To Be Ready For Long Wait At Delhi Airport Amid New Guidelines After Omicron Scare
Amid the new Omicron COVID-19 variant scare, international travel is going under restrictions all over again. Thus, travellers arriving from Omicron affected nations might get stuck at the Delhi Airport for up to four to six hours. The government has mandated COVID-19 testing of passengers from at-risk nations. They will be allowed to leave the Delhi airport only after the test results arrive. International Travellers Coming To India Need To Submit Their 14-Day Travel History
The Omicron variant has been reported in several countries now, including South Africa, the UK, Italy, Australia, Austria, Botswana, Israel, Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany and more. International flyers travelling to India now will have to submit their 14-day travel history and a negative RT-PCR report on the Air Subidha portal before travel. Also, they will have to undergo tests upon arrival. The test on arrival is mandatory for passengers from at-risk countries. Also, 5% of all international travellers will be randomly tested. While incoming passengers need to wait at the airport until the results arrive, authorities are putting efforts to fasten the process.
Total 1013 passengers from 4 ‘at risk’ flights, successfully completed arrival formalities due to availability of Rapid PCR Test along with RTPCR test.

Airports Across India Are Tightening Precautionary Measures To Contain Virus Spread
According to an India.com report, a spokesperson of the GMR Group ( which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi) said, “We are aware of the requirements of the new advisory and would be ready with all necessary arrangements on time keeping in mind the fresh guidelines and passenger convenience.” Various other airports in India, like Bangalore and Hyderabad, are also tightening their precautionary measures to contain the spread of the virus.
