Bengalureans! You will soon have the option of flying with Air India if you’re looking for direct flights to the Gatwick International Airport in London. Recently, Air India, the country’s flag carrier, took to social media and announced that they are launching a direct flight route from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport or KIA to London Gatwick Airport. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular flight route.

According to a press release which was recently shared by the airline, this new flight route will be launched on August 18, 2024. This will make Bengaluru the fifth city to receive a direct link to London Gatwick Airport by Air India. This move serves to highlight the growth that the airline is witnessing.

With this new route, Air India has further cemented its position in the UK market. This new flight route will operate as many as five times per week. It will proceed to augment its count to a total of 17 flights every week.

The aircraft for this route is chosen to be the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This particular aircraft has a total of 18 flat beds in its luxe Business class. In addition to this, it also has a whopping 238 spacious seats in its Economy class offering comfort and convenience.

London Gatwick Airport is the second-largest airport in the United Kingdom. Prior to the Bengaluru connection, Air India offered direct flights to London Gatwick Airport from four other cities. These are Kochi, Goa, Amritsar and Ahmedabad.

What is more, the airline also operates 31 weekly flights to London Heathrow and six weekly flights to Birmingham. With this new flight route, the airline is poised to provide its customers with a seamless travel experience and smooth journey. Air India is also undergoing a major revamp and retrofitting around 100 aircraft.
