Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway will significantly improve travel between the two cities. This four-lane brownfield project spans approximately 262 km and traverses seven districts, as per the Hindustan Times report. These include Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural and Kolar in Karnataka; Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh; and Vellore, Kanchipuram, and Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. With the completion of this expressway, it is expected that the travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai will be reduced to just two hours. Currently, it takes about seven hours to travel via road between these cities.

The Bengaluru-Chennai expressway is being built at a cost of over ₹17,930 crore. Nearly 2,650 hectares of land were acquired for this expressway. Work on this project is underway in three phases. The first phase covers a distance of 62.6 km between Hoskote and Bethamangala in Karnataka. The second phase starts from Bethamangala to Gudipala in Andhra Pradesh and stretches about 85 km.
