932 Dengue Cases Reported In Bengaluru

As per data provided by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the Karnataka capital saw an overall 932 cases, starting from January 1 2024 to May 15, 2024. According to a report by Times Now, the total number of cases has jumped by 59 per cent. This spike in dengue cases reported in Bengaluru this year is in comparison to overall numbers recorded in 2023 starting from January to May.

In the last year, Bengaluru saw a total of 538 dengue cases between January and May. A doctor shared necessary information about the disease spreading in the city. Dr Sujatha S stated that Bengaluru saw a total of about 360 people getting affected by the disease in the last 15 days (within the limits of BBMP).

The good news is that there is nothing such severe to worry about. The Health and Family Welfare Special Commissioner at BBMP, Suralkar Vikas Kishor shared that the cases have increased to such an extent because of the recent changes in weather. These incidents are quite usual as it starts raining in the city. He stated that the concerned departments have already started working on clearing areas getting infested by mosquito larvae.

Tips To Prevent Mosquitoes From Breeding:

It is important to stop mosquito breeding near your home, especially at this time. Some simple yet effective tips are:

  • Do not let water get stored anywhere. Stagnant water collection anywhere is a major NO!
  • If there is any drain next to your home, make sure to keep it covered.
  • If you have indoor plants, focus on cleaning the water pans and pot plates regularly.

Also, it is a good idea to keep your doors and windows closed so that mosquitoes cannot enter inside and bite you.
