Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Almost Ready: Total Routes In Karnataka Set To Reach 11

For those waiting eagerly for the Bengaluru–Mangaluru Vande Bharat service, there’s finally some good news for you! The route is nearing completion, with 22 km of electrification work already done. Also, the Vande Bharat Express is currently operational on 10 routes in Karnataka. This new service will bring the total to 11. Read on for all the updates.

Vande Bharat Express To Run On Bengaluru To Mangaluru Route

The Vande Bharat Express, a high-speed luxury train, is already operational in many Indian states. Known for offering a comfortable journey, it has improved connectivity across major cities. One such route, from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, was also announced a few months back.  Now, in a recent report published in One India, Minister of Railways in Karnataka, V. Somanna, has confirmed progress on this much-awaited route.

He stated that 22 kilometres of the electrification work is complete, while the remaining 33 km is still underway. This new link will enhance connectivity and make travel more convenient between the two cities. This service will benefit residents across four additional districts: Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Hassan, and Mangaluru.

Moreover, the railway line between Hassan and Mangaluru includes 57 tunnels and over 700 bridges. A survey to double this line has also been completed. An estimated ₹50,000 crore is needed for the project. Minister Somanna also mentioned that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in the works, and tenders will be invited soon.

Vande Bharat Train Routes In Karnataka 

Officials have been directed to acquire land for the Belur-Hassan railway line by July 20. Meanwhile, construction is moving ahead on the Kadur-Chikkamagaluru-Belur line across 68 km, which is expected to finish soon. Currently, Karnataka has the Vande Bharat Express running on 10 routes. These include:

• Bengaluru-Dharwad
• Mangaluru-Madgaon
• Hubballi-Pune
• Bengaluru-Kalaburagi
• Mysuru-Chennai
• Bengaluru-Hyderabad
• Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram
• Bengaluru-Coimbatore
• Mysuru-Chennai (2nd service)
• Bengaluru-Madurai
