A Redditor shared his mind-numbing experience of being mugged for ₹1000 in Bengaluru when he was with his friends.

A Bengaluru resident took to Reddit to share that he, along with his friends, was mugged. In his post, he wrote that his friends had planned to visit the Nandi Hills on a Sunday. Four of them took two bikes and left home at around 3:30 am. After they exited Old Madras Road, they headed to the Baiyappanahalli Metro Gate B. That’s when 3 people on a Dio scooter wearing helmets approached them in a zigzag way and hit his friend on the head.
One of them had a machete, which is a type of knife, and he used it to threaten them. Though they tried to take the keys, his friend had managed to shake off and escape. The man swung the machete and hurt his friend on the side of his stomach. The other two fell to either side, one of them hitting the Redditor’s bike. They had fallen a few metres behind at the time, but they had made it there by then, and they went down.
The men threatened the Redditor and his friends to give them money. Since they were heading to Nandi Hills, they had ₹1000 cash on them. After the men took it, they beat the friends and left them on the Old Madras Road. The Redditor further wrote that it was unexpected and they panicked. He advised everyone to avoid travelling at night in the city.

After reading about this incident, a user suggested he contact u/st_Broseph, who is a social worker. The social worker commented on the suggestion and agreed to file an FIR together. Further, he stated that he knew of this location and there might be CCTV cameras which might help them. He also assured that he would go to extent to make sure people get justice. He strongly feels that Bengaluru is not about this and nobody should experience this.

Several users have advised them to take legal action against the accused and file for an FIR. Further, the Bengaluru social worker has been on this case and has offered his assistance.

Looking at this case, it is a fact that there has been a rise in mugging cases which is disrupting people’s lives. This is a serious issue which needs attention by judicial authorities. And for anyone to experience this trauma certainly affects them mentally.
