Bengaluru To Charge Luxury Hotels ₹1 Lakh Fine For Violating COVID-19 Norms

Sure the hotels, restaurants and other establishments have opened after months of lockdown, but the pandemic is far from over. However, despite being aware of the risks of the deadly virus, many of us irresponsibly flout the rules. Looking at the ongoing scenario, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike stepped up social distancing implementation Bengaluru city by imposing monetary fines on establishments.

Strict Actions Against Commercial Establishments

The committee would charge the hotels and restaurants in Bengaluru if they allow customers to roam without masks and flout Covid-19 protocols. The amount of the fines imposed will depend on the size of the establishment. Luxury Hotels To Pay Up To ₹1,00,000 Penalty

The committee divided the penalties into six categories. They would charge three-star restaurants above a fine of ₹1 lakh. Other establishments like air-conditioned restaurants, malls, branded shops, departmental stores, cinema halls, would be charged up to ₹50,000. Non-AC restaurants and shops would be fined up to ₹25,000.
