Here’s The Recipe For Ukadiche Modak
Ingredients:
For the modak dough:
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp ghee
- Salt
- 1 cup rice flour
For the coconut filling:
- 1 coconut
- 2 tsp ghee
- 1.5 tsp poppy seeds
- 1 cup grated jaggery
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
More ingredients:
- Ghee
- Saffron
- Haldi leaves
Recipe:
- Start preparing ukadiche modak by making the dough. Take a pan and add milk, water, ghee, and a pinch of salt.
- Let the mix simmer.
- Once done, add a cup of rice flour and mix well to make a soft and smooth dough. Make sure to knead gently and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, start cooking the flavourful filling. Take a separate pan, add ghee, and saute grated coconut. Add grated jaggery and cardamom powder and sprinkle poppy seeds too. Mix all the ingredients well until you get a thick-consistency coconut and jaggery stuffing.
- Once the dough and the filling are ready, start shaping the sweets. Grease your palms with ghee, flatten a small portion of dough, stuff with coconut filling, and seal the ends perfectly.
- Arrange all the modaks on haldi leaves placed on a tray. Add saffron strands to each of these sweets and steam.
- Lastly, drizzle ghee on ukadiche modak and relish them.
