Here are all the details about this news!
Biryani Vendor In Karnataka Caught For Tax Evasion
According to an article recently published by Moneycontrol, the raid was carried out by a team consisting of around 50 vigilance members. The team was deployed by C Shikha, who is the Karnataka Commissioner of Commercial Taxes.
She said in the Moneycontrol article that they found that one Biryani Vendor in Hoskote was using around 30 QR codes to accept payment. In addition to UPI, the vendor was also accepting cash payments. There were other biryani vendors, too, who employed similar tactics to evade tax.
Further inquiry found that this biryani vendor also had around ₹1.47 crores stashed at his residence. While there is nothing illegal about this act in itself because there is no specific limit on the amount of money one can keep at home, one is still required to justify and account for its source.

Why Having Multiple QR Codes May Be Suspicious?
Hoskote is located around 30 kilometres from the Central Business District of Bengaluru and is a popular place where city folk come to enjoy a late-night meal. Many biryani vendors there use multiple QR codes to underreport the number of plates sold. This prevents them from paying the proper GST that is due to be paid.
