Many significant projects connecting different parts of Mumbai are ongoing currently. One of the much-awaited ones is the progress of the bow-string bridge creating a crucial connection between the Coastal Road and Bandra Worli Sea Link. According to reports, the second girder of this important bridge in the City of Dreams will be launched in just a couple of days. To know more about the project’s progress, read on.

BMC Is Ready To Place The Second Girder Of The Bow-String Bridge

Taking to the X platform, माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC (@mybmc) shared pictures of the 136-meter-long Bow Arch string girder weighing 2,000 metric tonnes.

Officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently made the announcement of the launch of the second girder for the bow-string bridge. According to a report by The Indian Express, the officials will begin this significant part of the project in the wee hours of May 15.

It was only a few weeks back when the team worked on launching the first girder of the bow-string bridge. It was done on April 26. An official shared that this new girder will be installed following the same process of erecting the first one. During that time, the team of officials and staff launched the first girder of the bow-string bridge from the sea.

The official further added that the entire process will take about 2 hours. This installation of the second girder will be for northbound traffic. This side has still not started to provide services as of now. Also, the entire construction will still take time. The timeline for completion is likely around the end of June.

The girder has been brought to Raigad’s Nhava Sheva port from Haryana. After assembling it, it was later sent to the Worli worksite.

Once BMC launches the second girder on Wednesday, the concerned people will start working on concreting it. After this step, there will be procedures to lay asphalt roads and lastly a process of waterproofing as well.

Once the entire project is complete, it will be such a significant connection between Coastal Road and Bandra Worli Sea Link.
