Breaking These Rules In The UAE Can Now Lead To Fines Up To AED2000!

It’s no secret that when rains hit the United Arab Kingdoms, people love visiting mountainous regions to enjoy the cool weather. And with the rainy season nearly here, the government has introduced a set of new rules for the citizens to follow. This has been done in order for them to be safe from the dangers that may accompany rainy and unstable weather conditions. Yes, breaking the rules can make you liable for paying fines up to AED2000!

Violating These 3 New Additions To Traffic Rules Can Fetch You A Fine Up To AED2000

The Ministry of Interior recently took to Twitter to post about new additions in order to boost the safety of people due to the rainy and unstable weather conditions. According to a news report by Khaleej Times, these traffic fines can fetch a person violating the rules up to AED2000. With this announcement, here’s a look at the three new fines that you need to be aware of –

  • If a person is found gathering near valleys, flooded areas, or dams during rainy weather, they may have to pay a fine of AED1000 and 6 black points.
  • If a person is found entering flooded valleys, despite the danger levels, they are liable to pay a fine of up to AED2000, 23 black points, and 60-day confiscation of vehicles.
  • In case a person is found obstructing authorities from regulating traffic; or ambulances and rescue vehicles during emergencies, disasters, crises, and rains, in flooded valleys; they are liable to pay an AED1000 fine, 4 black points, and 60-day confiscation of vehicles.

These rules have been brought in place to safeguard the residents, who generally prefer heading to mountainous areas when the rains make an appearance. While enjoying pleasant weather is a good idea, doing so, despite the warnings sent out to highlight how low-lying areas can quickly be swarmed by flood waters, is dangerous. Although authorities in the UAE always issue alerts for residents to stay away from dams and valleys during these unstable weather conditions, not following these can now lead people into paying hefty fines.

Not to mention, warnings are issued for motorists who cross valleys during such seasons and now if they are found guilty of violating these rules, including both residents and tourists, it will be considered illegal. It’s worth mentioning that there were several instances of people getting stranded as rain lashed out the country, the previous year.

So, take note of these new traffic amendments and ensure you follow the rules not just to steer clear of fines but for your own safety. After all, health is wealth!
