British Influencers Molly-Mae Hague & Tommy Fury Criticized For Not Wearing Facemask In Dubai

Facemask has become part of our attires ever since the pandemic broke open. The UAE and other countries around the world have strict rules in the place to curb Covid-19. Those who fail to wear a mask in the UAE will face severe fines. However, its looks like British influencers Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury didn’t take this too seriously.

A week back, internet was abuzz with news about British influencers Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury. The duo were in Dubai and were criticised by YouTube viewers for not wearing face masks. In a video posted Hague’s channel on December 18, the couple were spotted roaming in a taxi, on an Emirates flight and walking through a hotel without covered noses and mouths. The UAE made facemask compulsory in April in order to reduce the spread of new infections.

Fans Reprimand The Pair For Not Following Safety Guidelines

In the 20-minute video, the former Love Island contestant Hague, and the reality TV star and Fury remove their masks to speak to the camera while on-board an Emirates business class flight. They later remove their masks, despite the airline providing a free hygiene kit for all passengers.

The couple, stayed at Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel during their trip to Dubai. Even then, they filmed themselves walking through the resort with no masks at several points in the video. The video has now garnered more than 800,000 views. Hague’s YouTube video was soon flooded with comments reprimanding the pair for not following safety guidelines.

“I really enjoy your vlogs but if you’re going to travel during a global pandemic please, at the bare minimum, wear your masks properly,” one user commented. “Imagine not wearing a mask properly when you are able to,” wrote another.

Responding to the messages, Furry wrote: “Please understand that Tommy and I left the UK from Cheshire which was in Tier 2 at the time,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, after stricter regulations were enforced in the UK this week. If we knew these rules were going to be put in place then obviously we would have never left the UK. The minute we arrive home we will be following government guidelines.”

Tommy & Hague Remove Their Facemask On Reaching Maldives

The couple then left the UAE and headed to Maldives. In a video posted on 30 December, the couple were filmed mask-free on a seaplane in Maldives. Maldives has also made it mandatory to wear facemask at the airport and during domestic travel, including seaplanes.

In the video, the couple is seen lowering their masks while in the plane, as well as after departing the aircraft and arriving at the You & Me Maldives resort in the Raa Atoll. Once again, they were criticised by viewers in the video’s comments section.

“Love y’all but please wear your masks above your nose during flights and interactions with others,” one wrote. “Why not wear masks properly and be considerate of the populations of the countries you’re visiting?” another asked.

Replying to the comments, Hague said: “I put out something on my social media just addressing the whole tier four situation and how I found out that I won’t be able to spend Christmas with my family and stuff, and it kind of backfired on me,” she said. I since then addressed the fact that Tommy and I only came on this holiday when it was allowed in the rules, and where we actually live in Manchester, it is still allowed, we’re not breaking any rules right now. I think people have completely misread the situation and think that Tommy and I are breaking rules.”

The UAE has some strict covid rules in place. Anyone who fails to follow safety regulations will face a fine of AED 3,000. Masks should cover the nose, mouth and chin, and can only be removed when sat down and dining in restaurants.
