A Bus Falls Into A Ditch After Crashing Into A Tractor
According to an article which was recently published by Asia News International or ANI, the accident took place on the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday of July 16, 2024. The truck was reportedly carrying pilgrims.
It was headed to Pandharpur in Maharashtra and originated from Kesar Village in Dombivli near Mumbai. A truck plying on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway crashed into a tractor. Following the collision the bus fell into a ditch.
This accident ended up injuring a number of passengers who were on the bus and even claimed the lives of four pilgrims. The injured passengers were rushed to the nearby Mahatma Gandhi Mission or MGM Hospital in Pune and are being treated there.

If reports are to go by, the bus had to be retrieved from the ditch using a crane. As per the DCP Navi Mumbai, Pankaj Dahane, cited in the in the ANI article, the injured passengers were rushed there from the site of the accident.
Many reports even said that owing to the accident, vehicular movement was briefly halted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The traffic resumed after three hours once the bus was removed from the ditch.
This incident is a stark reminder of road safety. Drivers should be very careful while driving especially in high-speed areas like the expressway. The exact cause of the accident is as of yet unknown. It is hoped that the injured will recover soon.
