Canada Has Giant Billboards Thanking PM Modi For Providing COVID-19 Vaccines

India and Canada have a strong relationship that has enabled several Indians to cross the seven seas and pursue a life in Canada. With the COVID-19 pandemic still grappling with the world, India sent its first consignment of vaccines to Canada, to tackle the coronavirus. Canada in turn thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the kind gesture. And they did this in style by putting up 9 billboards across major highways in Toronto. Read on to know more.

Canada Puts Out Billboards To Thank PM Modi For Covishield Vaccines

Thanks to India, Canada received their first consignment of Covishield last week. While India is planning on sending another consignment of 1.5 million doses to Canada. To show appreciation for the gesture of India, nine billboards across major highways in the Greater Toronto Area were put up with a message “Thank you India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing COVID vaccine to Canada. Long live India-Canada friendship.” This is credited to an Indo-Canadian community group who sponsored the billboards across the Greater Toronto Area to thank India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s request.

India Sends Over 1.5 Million Doses Of Covishield Vaccines To Canada

Assuring India’s continued support to Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appreciated PM Modi’s gesture and said if we managed to win over COVID-19, “it would be significant because of India’s tremendous pharmaceutical capacity, and Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in sharing this capacity with the world.” PM Modi, too, thanked Trudeau for his tweet. He shared, “Was happy to receive a call from my friend Justin Trudeau. Assured him that India would do its best to facilitate supplies of COVID vaccines sought by Canada. We also agreed to continue collaborating on other important issues like climate change and the global economic recovery.”

The COVID-19 vaccine has been developed by Oxford-AstraZeneca combine and is being produced by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII).
