Canadian Man Eats 50 Carolina Reapers, Sets Guinness Record; Check Out These Crazy Chilli Eating Records

The record for the fastest time to consume 50 Carolina Reapers was set by a man from Ontario. In a video shot for the Guinness Book of World Records, Mike Jack is seen devouring a plateful of the hottest chili pepper on earth. Jack took six minutes and 49.2 seconds to finish his meal, even though the video was only a little over two minutes long.

Jack consumed an extra 85 peppers after breaking the record for eating the Carolina Reapers quickly.

To break the record for the most reapers consumed in one sitting, he still needed to eat 25 more of them, but he consoled himself by noting that he had already eaten twice his previous best.

Jack added that he had not consumed many spicy dishes growing up but that his college buddies had exposed him to Sriracha and Frank’s RedHot. A nearby Mexican restaurant offered El Yucateco hot sauces, so he started pushing himself to try even hotter sauces there, which kicked off his love affair with spiciness. (As per Yahoo.com)

Other Shocking Records

Gregory Foster from California set a world record by devouring 17 Bhut Jolokia peppers in 60 seconds. He surpassed the previous record for the most ghost peppers consumed in a minute, which was set in San Diego in November 2021, according to the Guiness Book of World Records. Because it contains one million Scoville intensity units, which are used to quantify the heat of peppers, it is one of the spiciest in the world.

At the La Coste Feel the Heat Challenge in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on September 17, 2006, Alfredo Hernandes (USA) consumed 16 jalapeño chilli peppers in one minute.

Amedonou Kankue from Togo set the record for the fastest time to eat three Bhut Jolokia chilies on the set of “Lo Show dei Record” in Milan, Italy, eating them in a heart-pounding 30.70 seconds. The Bhut jolokia chilli, one of the hottest peppers on the market, is typically 400 times hotter than tabasco sauce. (As per Guinness Records)
