Geeta Basra Spills It All On Sunday Brunch With Kamiya Jani
Kamiya Jani visited Geeta Basra’s home and learned a lot about her personal and professional journey. As soon as our Editor-in-Chief entered the actress’s home, she was warmly welcomed. In the candid chat, Geeta shared that she and her husband fondly address each other as ‘Madam’ and ‘Bhaji’, a sweet glimpse of the love and respect in their relationship.
After getting married, she spent some years in Punjab, and once they had children, the couple decided to shift to Mumbai. It has now been more than 20 years since Geeta moved from the UK to India, and she says that Mumbai is her favourite city.
She also mentioned that she used to watch every ball and over when her husband was playing, and stopped watching cricket when he retired. In the conversation, she shared a beautiful Punjabi motto, “Khao piyo aish karo mitro but dil kisi na dukhava,” which basically means ‘eat, drink, and have fun, but never hurt anyone.’ We also played a fun round of ‘Who’s Most Likely To,’ where the actress had to pick between herself and her husband in some situations.

Stories Over Punjabi And Gujarati Feast
Treating us to a delightful spread, Geeta Basra served a mix of Punjabi and Gujarati flavours. The menu included aloo paratha, rajma chawal, dhokla, patra, and sooji rings. All the dishes were homemade, and among them, Geeta revealed that patra is her forever favourite.
While enjoying the food, the actress revealed that 15 years ago, the film industry was very different. She had to choose between work and marriage, and was removed from four projects just because she was about to tie the knot. Now, after a hiatus of almost eight years, she has returned to work and opened her own production house, Purple Rose Entertainment. Sharing her comeback experience, she said she enjoyed working with Raj Kundra and added that, surprisingly, both of them are British Punjabi.
Geeta also opened up about how previously wives and girlfriends were not allowed to travel with cricketers on tournaments. Now, after years and on cricketers’ request, they are allowed to travel with the team. Geeta believes there should be a balance and that it should be allowed only on certain occasions.
