Central Railway Boosts Ticket Checking Drive; Earns ₹126.18 Crore Revenue In April-July

It’s raining money for the Central Railways, as an intensive ticket checking drive was conducted by the officials. The ticket checking drive was conducted in passenger trains, special trains and even mail expresses to cut down the travelling of passengers who are ticketless. This checking drive by the central railway officials also helped in allowing the right passengers in travelling via trains. In this process, the Central Railway authorities were able to earn up to ₹126.18 crores during the months of April, May, June and July 2022.

Central Railway Earns Crores Only From Monitoring Tickets

After all the monitoring of ticketless travel, and unbooked luggage, the Central Railway was able to collect over ₹20 crores in the month of July alone. The amount was collected after investigating over 3 lakh cases. After finding over lakhs of irregularities in travel, as compared to last year, the Central Railway has asked travellers to make the right booking and travel legitimately. As per reports, the revenue collected from irregular travel in the past months was recorded higher than the revenue collected last year, after an increase in travel.

Sale Of Scrap Increases Revenue

With the Zero Scrap Mission in place, Central Railways was able to register a revenue of ₹135.57 crores. This amount is highest in comparison to all the revenue collected after the sale of scrap all these years. The Railways is set in its mission to help stations, sections, installations, depots, workshops, sheds, and workplaces covering all departments/Divisions devoid of all scrap. As per media reports, an official of the CR told that the sale of scrap materials had helped the stations and their premises turn better and environment-friendly. Further, it is not only the Central Railways which has been benefitting from the sale of scrap, but the Western Railways too have initiated the Zero-Scrap Mission and registered revenue in crores.
