For the past three years, tourists were unable to ticket the iconic Neral-Matheran toy train off their bucket list. The 100-year-old mini toy train in Matheran was suspended after its narrow gauge rail tracks faced extensive damage. Now, after a ₹5 crore restoration work is done,  the Neral-Matheran toy train is all set to resume operations by end of 2022. Read on to know what’s in store.

Neral-Matheran Toy Train Undergoes Repair Work

The Neral-Matheran toy train is one of Matheran’s most priced and loved tourist attractions. The 100-year-old train ferries tourists between Neral and Aman Lodge. The 20 km-long narrow train came to a halt after the tracks were damaged due to torrential rains. After the completion of the restoration work, tourists can once again hop on board and enjoy scenic views of Matheran’s lush greenery and dreamy weather.

Operations To Resume By End Of 2022

Central Railway officials revealed to Zee News that the Neral-Thaeran track renewal and other safety work done will make travel a safer and more comfortable experience for passengers. The train also helped to ferry goods and other essentials between the two hill stations. Tourists can once again embark on a breathtaking journey across the hill station’s steep ghats and click Insta-worthy pictures.
