Chandigarh Man Spends ₹15 Lakhs To Buy A Fancy Number For His ₹70,000 Honda Activa

Brij Mohan, a 42-year-old Chandigarh resident shocked everyone after purchasing a fancy number plate for his Honda Activa for ₹15.44 lakh. It is surprising in every way as he spent this overwhelming amount for super VIP ‘0001’ number plate of a Honda Activa costing ₹71,000. He got the unique number plate in an auction by Chandigarh Registration and Licensing Authority.

An Auction Was Held For This Number Plate

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar announced a while back that the government will put ‘0001’ number plates on auction for the common people of Chandigarhwith an aim to raise revenue for the state. The Chandigarh-based advertising agency owner placed a bid of ₹15.44 lakh for the registration number ‘CH-01-CJ-0001’ for his Honda Activa.

The Chandigarh Registering and Licensing Authority put a total of 378 unique registration numbers for the auction. The base price of ‘CH01- CJ-0001’ was ₹5,00,000 and Brij Mohan placed the highest bid of ₹15.44 lakh to own it. They generated around ₹1.5 crores after the auction.

Brij Mohan Will Transfer The Number Plate From His Honda Activa

The interesting part is that Brij Mohan will actually use this number plate for his future car. He is buying the car on Diwali 2022. He also clarified that he will use this number plate initially on his Honda Activa and later transfer it for the car.

Till now, there are 179 vehicles using the 0001 number plate in Chandigarh. In fact, 4 of these elongs to Haryana CM himself. It is not the first time in Chandigarh that the number ‘0001’ got sold at such a massive price. Someone paid ₹26.05 lakh for this number in 2012 for a Mercedes Benz S-Class.
