Chef Ajay Chopra Shares “Appalling Experience” On Duronto Express; Says No Drinking Water For 12 Hour-Journey

Travelling in India can be cheap given that you are taking the train. The Indian Railways offer a budget-friendly travel option including certain facilities. And a majority of our Indian population prefers taking them instead of buses and flights. But, that doesn’t mean it is the best way to travel, right? Many people have criticised the hospitality on these trains. And pointed out the lack of cleanliness. MasterChef India’s former judge Ajay Chopra has joined this long queue of criticisers. He has described his “appalling experience” of travelling by the Duronto Express and here’s what he has to say.

Ajay Chopra Takes Jibe At The Indian Railways

The celebrity chef and former MasterChef judge Ajay Chopra took to Twitter and shared his terrible journey by Indian Railways. Apparently, he was travelling by train after a long time. And he was travelling on the Duronto Express. He simply describes his experience in one word — ‘appalling’. He wrote that despite being in the first class, there was no water in the train restrooms. Moreover, they weren’t clean and lacked basic amenities like tissues. As for the food and beverages, no one was serving water, so tea or any snacks were out of the question. And this train journey was of twelve hours.

Deteriorating Facilities

This is not the first time that the Indian Railways have faced such criticism. There have been complaints of bad quality of food served by the Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). And the food is sometimes compared on social media to the one served in jails. Moreover, there are complaints about the trains not being cleaned from time to time. People have found spilt liquids in the corridors, roaches roaming in the train, and seats lined with dirty footmarks.

Besides this, the train toilets are dirty and unclean. And there is no one coming from the maintenance department to clean the toilets during the journey. This is the biggest reason why the toilets are dirty by the end of a long journey.
