In this financial year, the highest part of the budget has been allotted to the Indian Railways. Moreover, the launch of new generation Vande Bharat trains is proof of its changing face. These semi-high-speed trains have increased connectivity significantly and have made it possible for people to travel longer distances. And after the final budget breakdown for the Indian Railways, the government is keen on introducing another semi-high-speed train, but within big cities. Here is all you need to know about Vande Bharat’s mini version, Vande Metro.

Vande Metro For Cities

India’s Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the introduction of a semi-high-speed metro for the cities. After the parliament speech of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, it was declared that the Indian Railways is planning to launch a mini version of the Vande Bharat train called the Vande Metro. According to him, these metros will run in the big cities for the convenience of the working class to travel from home to work and vice versa.

Travelling in these metros will be a shuttle-like experience for the passengers. Also, the production and designing of this Vande Metro will be completed by the next financial year and will ramp up production.

Railway Minister’s Words On Indian Railways

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his thoughts on the railway budget for 2023. According to him, this year’s budget will bring change in everyone’s lives. He further pointed out that the lack of investment in railways was hindering its potential growth. The ₹2.4 lakh crore has filled this breach and has made travelling affordable and comfortable for more than eight hundred crore passengers.

Speaking about the Vande Bharat trains, the minister said that the Indian Railways is working on its sleeper version that will have eight coaches. Also, they are planning to open manufacturing stations in Latur, Sonipat, and Raebareli for these semi-high-speed trains.

Apart from this, India plans on bringing new reforms to its public sector. The new addition of semi-luxurious trains with increased speed is a step forward.
