Since opening her JLT restaurant, Bait Maryam, in 2017, chef and owner Salam Dakkak has gained recognition for her family-style cooking and genuine Middle Eastern tastes. With the launch of her first fine-dining establishment, Sufret Maryam, Dubai diners will now have an additional opportunity to savour chef Salam’s heartwarming Levantine fare.

Sufret Maryam, which is scheduled to debut in June at Wasl 51, will provide “elevated Levantine cuisine” in an environment that blends contemporary architecture with Palestinian heritage. The authentic tastes, warm Arab hospitality, and friendly atmosphere that the community has come to expect from the famous JLT jewel will undoubtedly ensure that the new facility is just as memorable as the first, even though the cuisine at the new location may trend more towards fine dining.

Chef Salam has an impressive presence in Dubai’s indie dining scene, having earned recognition from publications such as MENA’s 50 Best and the Michelin Guide. Also, her cuisine is highly recommended!

Bait Maryam, The Homegrown Restaurant

The restaurant Bait Maryam, which means “Maryam’s house,” is named after the chef’s mother as a tribute to her. It serves Levantine cuisine that is crafted using traditional recipes that have been handed down through the centuries.

Further, it was awarded both the Welcome and Service Award and the Bib Gourmand distinction in the MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2022 edition. Together with certain speciality dishes and the chef’s own culinary creations, this restaurant serves a selection of homestyle foods from the Levantine nations of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan.

It embodies an Arab home run by an Arab mother with its cosy and calming décor that includes rustic wooden chairs, tables, and cabinets with arched windows, typical of Levantine houses, as well as beautiful trinkets and a variety of condiments stacked on shelves scattered throughout the space.
