A few videos of the accident are making rounds on social media and these show that the accident happened on April 9. Officials stated that it was about 8:30 PM when the bus fell into a ‘murum’ soil mine pit, according to a report by News18. Durg Superintendent of Police, Jitendra Shukla, said the workers in that bus were from a private company named Kediya Distillery company. They were going back home after a day of work at the firm.
The bus glided, skidded, and later plunged into a soil mine pit with a depth of about 40 feet. Among the 30 employees travelling on that bus on Tuesday evening, about 12 lost their lives unfortunately. Around 14 people suffered injuries. Following the accident, police officials rushed to the spot to conduct a rescue operation and save everyone trapped. The State Disaster Response Force also rushed to the spot.
