How long does it take for restaurants, cafes, and eateries to deliver food to your doorstep? Not too long, right? The Indian food delivery industry is evolving, growing rapidly, and running at a speedy pace. We are aware of online platforms delivering groceries and accessories in under ten minutes. Looks like, this timeline will soon enter the vast food delivery market in our country. Discussing the same, the Bombay Shaving Company CEO raised concerns stating how this could be a significant issue.
Bombay Shaving Company CEO Reacted To Indian Quick-Commerce Food Delivery Market
Recently, Shantanu Deshpande had a conversation with the founder of an undisclosed quick-commerce food company and was shocked to know about a new venture following a pattern of “Cook time 2 min—delivery time 8 min.” We are already going through the major consequences of consuming palm oil and sugar. Highlighting this, the Bombay Shaving Company CEO stated how “We are suffering from the biggest epidemic of poor nutrition and unhealthy processed and ultra-processed food” loaded with these two ingredients.
Elaborating on these concerning facts on LinkedIn, he also clarified how our grains have started to lose nutritional value in the last five decades. A primary reason for this deterioration is choosing agricultural yield for nutrition. He further added that low-cost pizzas, burgers, and energy drinks surged junk food addiction in India. Such practices are taking us down the path of China and the US without the economic covering necessities for health.
To operate the quick commerce food delivery market efficiently, one of the solutions is to use frozen purees and curries. More and more old ingredients will be heated and garnished. Customers will consume the unhealthiest food if they order from such ventures. Though they will not need to wait for a long time, the health effects will likely be alarming.
Shantanu Tagged Brands & Influencers
Bombay Shaving Company CEO also highlighted how many founders and investors have started looking for “fancy words” and adjectives for this upcoming inclusion into the quick commerce industry in India. Requesting Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto, he urged these established brands to not be a part of this initiative. He also added, “If you are so keen, please make the product palatable.”
Shantanu further asked the regulators to look after such new steps. He continued, “This can power some wild long-term health issues if uncontrolled.”
