After wreaking havoc on every aspect of human lives for the past two years, the novel coronavirus disease doesn’t seem to be going away. No sooner do we let our guards down than we hear another wave of COVID-19. Sometimes it’s not a wave but an all-new variant. The COVID-19 cases in states and regions keep on fluctuating. The most recent in this series of states witnessing a rise in COVID-19 cases are Karnataka and Maharashtra.

COVID-19 Cases In Maharashtra & Karnataka

If you thought that the coronavirus pandemic was behind us, think again. It seems that there is a surge in the number of cases of COVID-19. The number of cases reported in Maharashtra and Karnataka, specifically, is concerning.

According to the information released by the health ministry of India, Karnataka recently reported a rapid rise in the number of weekly cases reported in the state. These numbers were reported for the week of the 15th of March.

The state of Karnataka reported a 2.77 per cent of positivity rate. This is higher than the entire country’s positivity rate of 0.61 per cent. Furthermore, in Maharashtra, there has been an increase in the number of weekly positive cases. The number went from 355 to 668. This means that the rate of positivity in Maharashtra is 1.92 per cent.

The Government Has Issued An Advisory

Maharashtra and Karnataka are not the only states that have been reporting an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19. States like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Kerala have also been witnessing a surge in positive cases. Seeing the rising cases of COVID-19 across the country, the government has issued an advisory.

The government has directed the states to monitor, examine, and manage COVId-19 cases. The government has also directed the states to surveil the cases on a more micro-level in order to prevent their spread.
