Delhi’s Forest and Wildlife Department has announced daily bird walks at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, running for six days. The best part of this initiative is that it’s completely free, offering an exciting opportunity for all nature lovers. To provide better insights into the various bird species, expert birders will guide participants in identifying them during the walks. A senior forest official said the bird walks are especially designed to engage young people and give them hands-on experience in conservation.

In talks with Hindustan Times, Lakhan Kohli, a naturalist at the sanctuary, said the initiative aims to spread awareness about the variety of birds found in Delhi and how to identify them. The first walk began at 7 AM on Friday, with participants divided into small groups. Each session is planned to last about 2–2.5 hours.

Wildlife Week Celebration At The Sanctuary

Wildlife Week celebrations at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary began on October 1 with a tree plantation drive. Besides tree plantation and bird walks, visitors can also explore the butterfly park inside the sanctuary, where they can learn about the role of butterflies in the ecosystem.

This initiative by Delhi’s Forest and Wildlife Department is expected to encourage more people to visit the sanctuary. Covering 32 sq km, this sanctuary is the only protected area representing the northeastern outliers of the Aravalli hills. The bird walk at this sanctuary has already begun, and we’re definitely excited to enjoy this new experience.
