1. Oman Expands Plastic Bag Ban From July 1
Starting July 1, the fifth phase of the Sultanate’s ban on single-use plastic shopping bags comes into force, bringing more sectors under the restrictions. Furniture stores, carpet and blanket retailers, gold and jewellery shops, vehicle dealerships and car care businesses will all be expected to move away from plastic carrier bags.
2. UAE Ranked Third Globally For Road Quality
The UAE has ranked third in the world for road quality in 2026, according to the latest global figures. Only Singapore and Switzerland placed ahead of the Emirates. The ranking looked at factors including maintenance, road conditions and transport infrastructure.
