Industrialist and RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka recently talked about human refrigerators in Japan. Posting a video, he highlighted that this fridge works as a cooling booth. People can enter and stay inside for a while to cool down during extreme summer heat.
At the end of the post, Harsh Goenka also suggested that India should consider installing them on street corners during peak summer months. Honestly, this is such a great idea! According to @kyanasue, the creator who originally posted the video on Instagram, these human fridges are installed around roadsides in Tokyo.

How Do These Human Refrigerators Work?
According to The Times of India, the device is called the Do Reimon Box and has been developed by Japanese industrial supplier TRUSCO Nakayama Corporation. It works as a single-person cooling booth made of stainless steel. People can step inside, sit on a chair and close the door behind them for a short cooling session during extremely hot weather. Reportedly, it acts as a portable cooling station that can be installed at construction sites, warehouses and outdoor workplaces. The best part is that it does not require major infrastructure changes.
Inside the booth, the temperature is maintained at approximately 15°C. There is also a facility of powerful jets of air cooled to around 5°C, directed towards the neck, head and back. Spending just five to ten minutes inside is enough to get some relief. Moreover, the cooling session automatically ends after 20 minutes to avoid overcooling.
According to The Times of India, the innovation is inspired by refrigeration systems and frozen food vending machines. The people behind this concept adapted the same cooling technology into a human-sized fridge.
