Mumbai is experiencing hot weather these days, and keeping that in mind, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a yellow alert (heatwave warning) for the city. People have been advised to take care of themselves by staying hydrated and covering up. Here are the latest weather updates.

Heatwave Warning For Mumbai & Parts Of Maharashtra

Mumbai and some parts of Maharashtra have now received their first heatwave warning after the monsoon. According to The Economic Times, IMD officials have issued yellow alerts across several districts of the state. The hot weather conditions in Mumbai escalated on October 9, and dry weather is still continuing. Raigad is also experiencing similar uncomfortable weather.

The heatwave covers areas including Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and its ghats, Satara and its ghats, Sangli and Solapur. According to Mid-Day, temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3° Celsius in the next 48 hours. However, by October 12, conditions are expected to return to normal across Maharashtra.

How To Stay Safe During The Heatwave

According to Mid-Day, authorities have advised residents to keep track of official weather updates and take precautions in this heat. Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and avoid going out in the afternoon sun. Try to stay indoors during the hottest hours.

Wear lightweight, loose-fitting and light-coloured clothes if you need to step out of your home. Also, carry an umbrella and wear sunscreen. Avoid drinking too many dehydrating beverages, such as tea, coffee and soft drinks, which can make you feel worse in the heat.

It’s October, but Mumbai is still facing extreme heat. Thankfully, conditions are expected to improve soon. In Delhi, residents saw sunny to clear skies, while Bengaluru also witnessed cloudy skies with a chance of light rain.
