His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) building in University City on Sunday morning. The facility is designed to go beyond the traditional classroom by bringing learning, research, interaction and professional development under one roof.

What Is Inside The Sharjah Education Academy Building?

On arrival, Sheikh Sultan unveiled the commemorative plaque before touring the premises, with Dr Muhadditha Yahya Al Hashimi, Chairperson of SEA, looking on.

The building houses educational, research and service facilities, along with spaces for student activities. He was briefed on the Learning Resources Centre, the Student Services Affairs Section, administrative facilities and support services.

SEA says the building is built around a human-centred experience that supports innovation and collaboration. It aims to prepare educational professionals who can shape the future of education.

Support For People Of Determination

The Ruler also learned about the Academy’s efforts to provide a supportive learning environment for people with disabilities. The building is described as safe and inclusive, taking diversity and equal opportunities into account. He was also shown its security and safety systems, technological infrastructure and smart-building systems.

Classrooms And Training Halls In Phase One

The first phase includes classrooms and training halls designed around different teaching and learning methods.

  • Nine classrooms, each seating 25 students, for a total of 225
  • Four training halls, each seating 75, for a combined 300
  • An inclusive hall for lectures, training workshops and large courses

What Is Coming In Phase Two?

The second phase will develop the upper floor and add facilities to complete the campus infrastructure. These include:

  • An administrative building
  • A Board of Trustees hall
  • Multipurpose halls
  • Sports facilities
  • A residential building

The plans also feature a studio with a dedicated filming area for producing visual and audio episodes, discussions, interviews and media content. A staff lounge will provide a dedicated working space for the Academy community.

For students and teachers in the emirate, the opening marks a visible step in Sharjah’s investment in education. Further details on programmes, enrolment and the second-phase timeline have not been announced yet, so keep an eye on the Academy’s official channels for updates as the campus takes shape over the coming months.
