The Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council member, his highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, recently approved plans for Al Freish Lake. This is basically a major recreational and tourism destination that is going to be developed near Al Marsh Square, which is in the city of Kalba. Here’s all he had to say about the new development.

During one of the programmes where he was speaking on the direct line programme that was being broadcast on Sharjah radio and TV, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi mentioned the new recreation and tourism destination that is going to be developed. As revealed in a report by Gulf News, it was mentioned that this lake would cover around 51,200 m². Additionally, it would also have a storage capacity for around 28 million gallons of water.
What Does The Project Include?
Talking about the leisure project, this would come under the development in Kalba. The development would extend from Al Marsh Square to Al Freish Lake. Complete with interconnected waterways that would be set against the mountainous landscape, it would feature trees and waterfalls. The plans are to integrate natural and tourism destinations that would feature waterfalls.
These would have dedicated family seating areas and would feature a range of water activities. The project would also include a 2.6 km vehicle track, which would be around the lake. The report further mentions how tourists will be allowed to explore the development and enjoy the multitude of attractions once it is complete. This project is a part of Sharjah’s effort to expand public recreational spaces.

Other Big Developments In Sharjah
Sharjah is truly undertaking a multitude of development projects for its residents and tourists. One of the latest developments happens to be about a roundabout that is to be built in Kalba. The roundabout would have a fountain that would spray rosewater, as revealed by the Ruler of Sharjah.
It was mentioned that once the fountain becomes functional, the surrounding area would become fragrant with the scent of roses, leaving people feeling refreshed when they come to the vicinity. Another development from Sharjah that was announced was that Khorfakkan was to become a city surrounded by forest. During this announcement, it was revealed that the plan is currently in the way to plant the mountains of Khorfakkan.
